From the Pitch to the Plan: My Story
I was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1962 and immigrated to Canada in 1966. From an early age, soccer played a central role in my life and my family’s. My father was a dedicated coach in Coquitlam for over 25 years and co-founded the Coquitlam Metro Ford Soccer Club, one of the most recognized youth soccer programs in Canada.
My own soccer journey led me to the Vancouver Whitecaps, where I was drafted in the first round of the 1979 NASL Draft. I was fortunate to represent Canada in the 1984 Olympic Games and the 1986 World Cup, playing over 400 professional matches across various countries.
A Professional Committed to Long-Term Support
With more than 25 years in the insurance industry, I’ve built my career around supporting businesses and their employees through effective group benefits management. I began as a Branch Executive at Sun Life, later became a partner in a Langley brokerage, and eventually launched Dowco Financial Ltd., which is now part of the Dowco Group of Companies.
At Dowco Financial, we work with multiple Canadian insurance carriers and focus on serving companies with 3 to 150 employees. Our strength lies in simplifying plan design, implementation, and renewal so business owners can focus on growing their organizations—while offering benefits that help attract and retain great employees.
My Approach
My goal is simple: build strong, lasting relationships with clients and deliver group benefit plans that truly meet their needs. By acting as a dedicated advisor and advocate, I help companies navigate the often complex world of group insurance with clarity and confidence.
